Protein Tracker is a native macOS application built with Apple's SwiftUI framework. It takes full advantage of macOS-exclusive features: the menu bar, iCloud Drive sync, the macOS Keychain for API key security, and native system fonts and dialogs. Works on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs. An iPhone companion app is currently in development. Windows and Android versions are not planned.

No account required. The USDA food database works immediately out of the box.

Open the Installer

Double-click ProteinTracker-Installer.dmg and drag the app to Applications.

Launch the App

Right-click → Open the first time (required once for non-App Store apps), then click Open.

Start Tracking

Click the menu bar icon → Add Food → search 400,000+ foods. Log your first meal.

Optional: Enter a Claude API key (via the 🔑 icon in Add Food) to enable AI-powered search for specialty products.
